With September coming to a close next week I wanted to touch base with everyone. We have had a very busy month and next week may be the craziest of them yet! I would like to invite families to attend both of our upcoming assemblies next week.
Orange Shirt Day Assembly - Monday, September 24th at 1:00 pm.
This assembly is designed to educate our school and community aroudn what Orange Shirt Day is an why it is important to recognize it. We will have members of our SLC lead the assembly and teach us about the history or Residential Schools, a video on the importance of Orange Shirt Day, a guest speaker, and a video of a children's story read by our SLC, along with performances by our choir and Umoja.
Jack MacKenzie Celebration Assembly - Friday, September 28th at 9:30 am.
This assembly is to recognize all the amazing things that have taken place over the month of September. We will also be recognizing one student from every class that has stood out in terms of honouring Mr. MacKenzie's motto by exemplifying "Where Effort and Kindness Count"
Not to forget we also have our school Track and Field Meet at the Canada Games Complex at Douglas Park on Wednesday. We are still in need of parent helpers to ensure this runs smoothly. If you are available please send me a message at kyle.dumont@rbe.sk.ca

SCC BBQ
I hope everyone was able to make it to the SCC Back to School BBQ tonight, but if not you can find the Sr. Pod Meet the Teacher Package HERE.
Also I am still missing a number of student information from the Google Form. Please click on the link and tell me a little about your child. This will help me plan and organize my lessons to best support your child's learning throughout the year, especially at the start.
We have had a great start to the school year already. We went to Treaty 4 on Tuesday, had our QSP Rally and SCC BBQ today. Up next is getting ready for our Orange Shirt Day/Reconcilliation Assembly, Terry Fox Walk and the school Track and Field meet. Our Volleyball teams have been pick and are beginning to practice along with the Cross Country Running team, has meet next week already!
On top of all that our wonderful SCC has provided us with an online clothing order. If you wish to purchase clothing online this year please check it out!

Welcome Back!
Welcome Back!
I hope everyone had a restful, relaxing, and rewarding summer break. We are very excited to have everyone back in action this year. There are obviously some big changes to our school this year, but we are all excited to meet them head on and move forward with Mr. Mackenzie's motto "Where Effort and Kindness Count" in mind.
We would like to welcome Mr. Jay Fladager to our school as our new Principal, along with the new teachers and educational assistants that are joining our amazing community. I hope you all have a chance to meet them soon.
This year I am excited to be switching from teaching Science as my focus to Social and Treaty Education for our pod. We will be starting the year off with Treaty Four Celebrations on September 11th out at Fort Qu'Appelle, so expect permissions and requests for parent volunteers on the first day!
Parents I have a special request for you. I have created a form for you to fill out to help me collect your emails and get to know your wonderful children faster. Please take some time over the week to fill out this FORM as it will help me create a tailored approach to your child's education this year.
I would like to also take a moment to let everyone know that plans are in place for a memorial service for our beloved Mr. MacKenzie. The service will take place at Resurrection Catholic Church on Monday, September 10th at 6:45 and then a reception back at the school to follow. As we learn more information we will share it.
